This is the home of ooak handmade collectors bears, created just across the road from the Peak District in Darkest Derbyshire. Cubbyholes are wonderful places, usually located beneath the stairs and serve no purpose at all! They are like the bermuda triangle of the home, things go in but rarely come out. Most people fill their cubbyhole with junk, me, I filled mine with bears. Bears who believe the cubbyhole is the modern, civilised equivalent to a bears cave. I dont' have the heart to tell them that caves don't have wooden doors and aren't sat next to the central heating, but they don't chew anything and occasionally emerge to visit the odd fair with me. They long to be adopted by loving parents who will also cater for their needs, hugs, adventures and of course the occasional cookies
The Bears are a mixed range from traditional to whimsical, their personalities range from the downright devilish to the angelic, some are grumpy, some soft and cutesy, but all of them are loving.
They are created using only the finest materials, mouthwatering mohairs, luxurious cashmeres, lush alpacas, divine velvets and sometimes the softest, most cuddlesome of synthetic plushes. Bear skins are very important, after all they can't exfoliate and moisturise their imperfections away and they so want their prospective Mum or Dad to be happy with them.
Now a word of warning they are somewhat weighty bears (whispers so as not to hurt little teddy feelings) because not only are they weighted with steel shot, or glass beads with heavy, polyester but they do enjoy muffins and biscuits and of course picnics. Fortunately I am a strict keeper and try to keep them away from the biscuit barrel, so they aren't weighty enough to give anyone a hernia.
As with all of us, the bears are one of a kind and even when people have requested an identical twin for their bear...it rarely happens, they all have their own bearsonalities and I'm happy to go with that.
Most of the bears are fashion conscious enough to sport some kind of trinket or a ribbon, but it is a rare Cubbyhole Cub that is dressed. Modesty is not one of their finer points. All of the bears have one thing, their own birth certificate, which includes the details of the bear and the name of their new parent.
Enough from me though, how about meeting some of the bears, bunnies and other little creatures that occasionally turn up in the cave like enclosure of The CubbyHole.
